About Gerald Winslow LLC

Founded on May 8, 2026, by Julie Kerins.

Julie is the eldest daughter of Gerald W. Kerins, b. May 10, 1947 d. 2019 and granddaughter of Charles W. Kerins, born May 8, 1917.

Over 25 years ago, Julie discovered her passion for positively impacting those in need and building relationships with donors. Her ability to connect with people, is what actually landed her first role in advancement.

Following her review, Diane advised she was not considering Julie for the housekeeping position. Before Julie could inquire why, she went on to say that she was not going to hire her for that position because she had something else in mind, and she’d call her in two weeks advising that was all that she could share at the time. With that, Julie thanked her and left. Sure enough, Diane called explained the role open in the office of advancement. The rest became history.

Prior to this conversation, she was working as a paralegal for an attorney who specialized in elder care law and decided it was time for a change to a more uplifting environment. After seeing an ad for a job at the local university, she decided to go in and apply in person.

However, that conversation was in fact the beginning of Julie’s journey to connect donors’ desire to organizational needs, while building relationships built to withstand her tenure and transform lives.

The basis of her human-centered approach, stemming from that very conversation with HR to each and every donor she attributes to Gerald and Charles and their early influence preparing her for a career she didn’t even know existed.

Over the years, her inherent conversational ease combined with her ability to envision and relay life-changing impact to donors, consistently turned ideas into reality.

Upon arrival, she learned from the administrative assistant that the only position open was in housekeeping. With that being the only opening, she accepted and completed application form. Upon returning the clipboard and her application, the admin advised she could wait while she checked with her director. Shortly after Diane Penix, director of human resources at the time, appeared in the adjacent doorway, and invited her in to sit. down.

As Diane reviewed Julie’s application she looked up over her glasses, looking a bit puzzled, and asked why she was applying for the housekeeping position? Julie explained that her role as a paralegal wasn’t as expected and upon arrival that day, she was advised that the housekeeping role was the only position available. As she asked about a resume, Julie quickly presented it to her while explaining she was willing to start there until perhaps another opportunity became available.

Julie is now using her decades of experience and is on a mission to impact the nonprofit sector by sharing her human-centered process. Her vision is to partner with the executive directors and nonprofit leaders to create change that leads to rebuilding trust in the sector.

Which leads us to the second part of the name, Winslow. Winslow is her granddaughter, and her inspiration to create change, address the systemic challenges plaquing nonprofits today. She is on a journey to impact more than one or two organizations’ missions, prevent fundraiser flight and leadership burnout. Choosing Winslow also as a namesake is to serve as a reminder of her goal to make a difference in the future.
